Aniplex has unveiled a new character promotional video for Fate/EXTRA Record, the upcoming remake of the classic PSP title. The trailer highlights Saber, once again voiced by Sakura Tange, offering a fresh look at the character within the updated engine. This release arrives as the project nears its finalized launch date of January 28, following a series of development shifts and delays.

The game is set to arrive on a wide array of platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Aniplex has taken over publishing duties for the title, with Marvelous Europe handling distribution in Europe and Australia. Players can choose between a standard release or a physical Limited Edition, which bundles a three-disc soundtrack, a SteelBook case, and an artbook.

This remake serves as a modern entry point to the "Extraverse," an alternate science-fiction timeline within the broader Fate franchise. The original 2010 PSP game previously inspired the 2018 anime series Fate/EXTRA Last Encore, produced by Studio SHAFT. While the series has seen various spin-offs and sequels over the years—most recently the action RPG Fate/Samurai Remnant—this remake aims to revisit the foundational story that launched the sub-series.

Given the significant changes in the development structure, including the departure of director Kazuya Nino, does the return of original character designer Arco Wada provide the continuity you were hoping to see in this remake?
