The 30th annual Fantasia International Film Festival is set to host a significant roster of animation premieres when it kicks off in Montreal this July. Among the most notable highlights is the world premiere of Grotesqqque, a three-part anthology collection produced by CloverWorks that brings together the segments “A(E)liens,” “Yoroshiku★girl,” and “Nocturne: Nuit Grotesque.”

Feature-length animation also takes center stage with the North American premiere of the collaborative project A New Dawn (Hana Rokushō ga Akeru Hi ni), produced by ASMIK Ace and French studio Miyu Productions. Additionally, the festival will present the Canadian premiere of cocoon – One Summer of Girlhood, the anime adaptation of Machiko Kyō’s poignant manga series.

The festival's "Animation Plus" section is equally packed, featuring the world premiere of the Cherry and Virgin film and the North American debut of the Sekiro: No Defeat anime. Beyond pure animation, the event will host the international premieres of the live-action WIND BREAKER film and the documentary The Origin of Ultraman, alongside select episodes from the Junji Ito live-action omnibus, Strange: Junji Ito's Tales for Sleepless Nights.

A variety of short films will also receive their first global screenings, including works like 20001 An Earth Odyssey and the first episode of Future Kid Takara. The festival is scheduled to run from July 16 through August 2.
