The latest issue of Kodansha's Dessert magazine confirms that manga creator Coco Uzuki is stepping away from the series temporarily to focus on her health and manage her current workload. The romantic comedy is slated to resume serialization in the magazine's January 2027 issue, which arrives on newsstands this November.
Since its 2023 debut, the series has garnered significant critical acclaim, including a win in the Shojo category at the 2025 Kodansha Manga Awards. Its reputation as a standout title is further solidified by consistent appearances in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! guidebook’s top 20 rankings for female readers. The story, which follows the unlikely bond between a sharp-tongued class president and her seemingly perfect vice president, has struck a chord with audiences for its subversion of traditional school-life tropes.
This pause in serialization comes as anticipation builds for the series' transition to the screen. Studio MAPPA revealed in June that it is currently producing a television anime adaptation, which is slated for a 2027 premiere. With seven compiled volumes currently available in Japan and an English license managed by Kodansha USA, the franchise remains a high-profile property to watch as it prepares for its upcoming broadcast debut.
