Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death (True)² & Rebirth and The End of Evangelion are set for a limited U.S. theatrical run this July as part of the EVANGELION 30th Movie Fest. GKIDS is hosting the event, which will screen the films on consecutive days: July 21 and July 22.
Tickets for the screenings are currently available on GKIDS' website. Evangelion: Death (True)² & Rebirth will be shown on July 21, followed by The End of Evangelion on July 22. This event celebrates the 30th anniversary of the original Neon Genesis Evangelion TV anime, which aired from 1995-1996.
Evangelion: Death (True)² & Rebirth is a compilation film that includes a condensed version of the original 26-episode series, titled Evangelion: Death, and a portion of the alternative ending, Evangelion: Rebirth. The version being screened is an evolved iteration prepared for international audiences.
The End of Evangelion offers an alternative conclusion to the TV series, depicting SEELE's plans against NERV and Asuka's return to fight new enemies. The film explores Shinji's perspective as he witnesses the destruction of Eva-02 and confronts the mass-production Evas. GKIDS secured the licensing rights for the original TV series and these two films in 2020, making them more accessible after years of limited availability in North America.
