The American entertainment company EST N8 has secured worldwide sales rights for the Korean science-fiction animated feature Pilgrims. According to a report by Variety, the company initiated international sales for the film at the Asian Contents & Film Market, held during the Busan International Film Festival in October. This acquisition represents the first animated feature for EST N8, a firm formed by the merger of EST Studios and N8 to focus on the global distribution of Asian cinema. The film, which previously screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, is adapted from a short story by Choyeop Kim. It follows a protagonist named Sophie who begins to uncover unsettling secrets about her pain-free society after remembering a missing friend. Pyoungkang Heo makes his feature directorial debut with the project, bringing nearly two decades of experience from the Japanese animation industry, including roles on Japan Sinks: 2020 and Night is Short, Walk On Girl.
