The dark military drama "Nippon Sangoku" is set to receive a television anime adaptation, with Studio Kafka handling production for a Spring 2026 debut. The series originates from a manga by Aoteru Misumi, which depicts a fractured near-future Japan.

Set after a catastrophic collapse brought on by nuclear war, natural disasters, and revolution, "Nippon Sangoku" plunges viewers into a Japan divided into three warring superpowers. In this new Three Kingdoms Period, brutal military might and resource control have replaced diplomacy as factions vie for dominance over the nation's ruins.

Studio Kafka, known for its work on "Blue Lock" and "The Yakuza's Guide to Babysitting," will bring Misumi's grim vision to the screen. Twin Engine is producing the series. Fans of gritty, geopolitical thrillers and post-apocalyptic settings can anticipate a tense exploration of power and survival.
