D3Publisher has unveiled Earth Defense Force 6.2 INVADERS FROM ANOTHER WORLD, a refined iteration of the high-octane shooter slated for a 2027 release on PlayStation 5. The developer promises a suite of technical enhancements tailored specifically for the current-gen hardware, aiming to elevate the experience established in the original release.
Attendees at this year's Tokyo Game Show, running from September 17 to 21, will get an early look at the title with a playable demo. This new entry builds upon the foundation of Earth Defense Force 6, which originally launched in Japan in 2022 before arriving in North American markets in 2024 following a series of development delays.
The franchise has seen consistent expansion, with the narrative of the sixth installment picking up three years after the events of Earth Defense Force 5. Beyond the mainline entries, the series recently saw the release of Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 in 2024, which brought the series' signature chaotic combat to the Nintendo Switch alongside PlayStation platforms.
