The Duel Masters Play's smartphone game is expanding its footprint with a new manga adaptation, Duel Masters Pure Play's, which debuted this Monday on Shogakukan's Weekly CoroCoro Comic service. The series features art by Reki Yayoi, with Hirokuni Nojima—who serves as the game's art director, character designer, and story writer—overseeing the project and providing the original story.
Set in the bustling Duema City, the narrative follows two characters named Kanon and Wedding. As "Zeniths," these protagonists possess limited knowledge of human society and emotions. The story tracks their growth as they navigate the city's diverse population and learn to understand the complexities of the human experience.
The franchise remains highly active across multiple media formats. While the Duel Masters Play's game has been running since December 2019, the Duel Masters LOST manga series has seen a rapid succession of installments since early 2024. The latest entry in that saga, Shitsuraku no Duel, is scheduled to begin on September 17, following the conclusion of the Danzai no Shōnen arc in July.
Beyond print, the Duel Masters LOST series has maintained a consistent presence in the digital space with short-form net anime adaptations. These projects typically follow a four-episode release structure, with the next installment, Danzai no Shōnen, slated to begin streaming on October 9. With both the LOST series and this new Pure Play's manga running concurrently, the franchise is currently managing a dense schedule of content releases.
