Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation has earned a nomination for Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming at the upcoming 42nd Annual Television Critics Association (TCA) Awards. The series, based on the popular mobile game, will compete against a diverse slate of shows including Electric Bloom, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Stranger Things: Tales from '85.
Announced by the TCA on Friday, the nominations reflect a year of television programming evaluated by over 220 professional journalists across the United States and Canada. The winners are scheduled to be revealed this summer. Notably, this year's awards introduce new categories such as Outstanding International Series and Outstanding Achievement in Animation, though no anime received a nod in the latter.
The first season of Disney Twisted-Wonderland The Animation, titled Episode of Heartslabyul, premiered on Disney+ in October 2025. The series is produced by Aniplex and animated by Graphinica and Yumeta Company. The franchise is known for its "villains' academy adventure game" concept, drawing inspiration from Disney film villains and incorporating rhythm game mechanics and battles. Plans are already underway for at least two additional seasons, expanding on the story that began with the 8-episode first season.
This nomination highlights the growing recognition of anime within broader television award circuits. The Disney Twisted-Wonderland franchise also includes multiple manga adaptations and a side-story manga, indicating a significant multimedia presence beyond the mobile game and anime series.
