Disney has unveiled Disney Cursed Love, a new romantasy-focused publishing initiative, during the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The project aims to reimagine classic Disney romances through the vertical-scroll webtoon format, beginning with The Curse of a Forsaken Heart. Written by New York Times bestselling author Emily McIntire with art by Samairu, the story follows Belle and the Beast as they are transported into a cursed kingdom where they must aid a princess in finding love to break a dark spell.

Following the digital debut on the WEBTOON app, the series is slated for a physical print release in 2027. This launch is part of a broader expansion of the partnership between Disney and WEBTOON, which was first established in 2025 to bring Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars intellectual properties to the mobile platform.

Beyond the new romantasy line, Disney announced seven additional titles slated for the platform, including entries from the Star Wars: Visions universe, the Disney Villains series, and Gravity Falls: Lost Legends. This initiative builds on the companies' ongoing collaboration, which includes plans for a dedicated digital comics platform that will house over 35,000 titles from Disney's expansive library.
