The long-running Detective Conan franchise continues its tradition of film-to-manga adaptations, but the latest project is reaching its finish line. The October issue of Shogakukan’s Shōnen Sunday S magazine has confirmed that the manga adaptation of Detective Conan: The Private Eyes' Requiem, illustrated by Yutaka Abe and Jirō Maruden, will conclude in the magazine’s next issue this September.
Abe and Maruden began their adaptation of the 10th franchise film on February 24. The story follows Conan Edogawa and Kogorou Mouri as they navigate a high-stakes mystery at the Miracle Land theme park, where they are forced to solve an open case under a 12-hour deadline or face dire consequences. The original film, produced by TMS Entertainment, is a fan favorite, currently holding a strong 8.03 rating on MyAnimeList with over 35,000 votes.
This project is part of a broader history of Abe and Maruden adapting the Case Closed cinematic entries into manga format. While this specific adaptation wraps up, the franchise remains as potent as ever. The 29th film, Detective Conan: Highway no Datenshi, recently shattered records upon its April 10 Japanese release, pulling in over 3.5 billion yen during its opening weekend and securing the top spot at the box office.
