The hit fantasy series Destiny Unchain Online: How I Became the Crimson Devil is officially making the leap to television. A newly launched social media account confirmed that both the original light novel series and its manga adaptation will serve as the foundation for an upcoming anime production.
Created by author resn and illustrator Yachimoto, the story centers on Kou Mitsuki, a legendary gamer nicknamed "Crim the Headhunter." While testing a new VR device and his father's latest game, Destiny Unchain Online, a system glitch leaves him trapped in the game world—not as his avatar, but as a vampire girl. The series follows his journey as he navigates this new reality, forging bonds with fellow players while utilizing his high-level gaming prowess.
Originating on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō web platform in 2020, the story eventually found a home on Kadokawa's Kakuyomu site. Kodansha began publishing the print novels in 2022, shortly after Yachimoto launched the manga adaptation in Magazine Pocket. With 13 volumes of the manga already in circulation and the light novels continuing to gain traction, the production team has yet to announce a release window or studio details, though Yachimoto released a commemorative illustration to celebrate the news.
