The upcoming original net anime adaptation of Demons' Crest has expanded its roster, confirming four primary voice actors ahead of its November 6 premiere on Amazon Prime Video. The production, which adapts the light novel series by Sword Art Online author Reki Kawahara, will feature Yuusuke Kobayashi as Teruki Sugamo, Maaya Uchida as Aria Misono, Rie Murakawa as Kai Kisanuki, and Sora Amamiya as Sumika Watamaki.

These additions join a high-profile production team at Production I.G. The project is helmed by director Kenichirou Komaya, with series composition provided by Eiji Umehara, known for his work on Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song. Character designs are being handled by Yukiko Horiguchi, while the musical score is a collaboration between composers Yuuki Hayashi and Naoyuki Chikatani.

While the anime is a new entry for the franchise, the source material has already seen significant expansion since its 2022 debut under Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko imprint. Beyond the original light novels, a webtoon adaptation illustrated by TOmoe has been running on the HykeComic platform, with physical volumes currently being released by Kadokawa. Yen Press also holds the English-language rights for the light novel series, which has been available to international readers since early 2024.

Why it matters: The involvement of Production I.G and a staff team with experience in high-concept sci-fi suggests a significant investment in this new IP, though it remains to be seen how the adaptation will balance Kawahara's dense world-building with the constraints of an ONA format.
