Sega has announced that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 will receive a dedicated edition for the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for release on October 29 in Japan and the West. Players who already own the game on the original Nintendo Switch, either physically or digitally, will be eligible for a free upgrade to the Switch 2 version. This upgrade path, however, will not include the separately sold "Infinity Castle" Character Pass, which features seven DLC characters.
The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles 2 - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + "Infinity Castle" Character Pass bundle will come with all previously released DLC characters. The Switch 2 version promises enhanced visuals and a smoother 60 fps framerate. Furthermore, the game will support cross-play functionality, allowing players on both the Switch and Switch 2 to compete together. Players with save data from the Switch versions of the original Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Sweep the Board! will receive in-game bonuses.
The "Infinity Castle" Character Pass offers access to characters featured in the recent film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns, including Doma and Kaigaku, alongside Infinity Castle variants of Tanjiro, Zenitsu, Giyu, Shinobu, and Akaza. These characters were gradually released as DLC post-launch, with the final addition, Doma, arriving on May 28. A free update last September also added Muzan Kibutsuji to the game's VS. Mode.
The game's story mode adapts the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc, picking up from the first title. Its VS. Mode boasts over 40 playable characters, including the nine Hashira and characters from the first game. Developed by Cyber Connect 2 and published by Aniplex, The Hinokami Chronicles 2 initially launched in August for PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC. The original Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - The Hinokami Chronicles was first released in October 2021.
