Level 5 has released two fresh trailers for its long-awaited crime-suspense RPG, Decapolice, offering a deeper look at the game's narrative and core gameplay loops. The footage highlights the investigative work of protagonist Harvard Marks, a rookie detective within the Broadstone Police Center's Special Investigation Unit. Players will navigate a virtual reality training simulation known as 'Decasim,' which has been compromised by a mysterious hacker, turning its digital inhabitants into puppets.

Gameplay centers on crime scene investigation and evidence analysis, culminating in tactical combat encounters where suspects can manifest as 'Crime Beasts.' The project features a collaboration with the escape room experts at SCRAP to refine its mystery-solving elements. Additionally, the game's theme song, 'City of Love,' is performed by MARiA from the musical duo GARNiDELiA.

Following a series of delays that pushed the title from its original 2023 target, Decapolice is now slated for a 2027 release on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. Notably, Level 5 has confirmed that the game will no longer support the PlayStation 4 or the original Nintendo Switch. Alongside the game, a television anime adaptation is currently in production and is scheduled to premiere simultaneously with the game's release.

Why it matters: The shift in platform support to newer hardware suggests a significant technical upgrade from the game's initial reveal, though the extended development cycle leaves the final scope of the Decasim virtual world as the primary element to watch.
