Level-5 has confirmed that its crime suspense RPG DECAPOLICE will now arrive in 2027, marking the latest in a series of delays for the title. Originally slated for a 2023 debut, the project has seen multiple shifts in its development timeline, moving through 2025 and 2026 before this current adjustment. Alongside the date change, the studio announced that it is dropping support for the original Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, focusing instead on the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.
The announcement came during the Level-5 Vision 2026 II Dream livestream, which also highlighted the game's core mechanics. Players step into the shoes of Harvard Marks, a rookie detective navigating the Broadstone Police Center’s 'Decasim'—a virtual reality training simulator compromised by a mysterious hacker. Gameplay involves investigating crime scenes and engaging in tactical combat against 'Crime Beasts' manifested by suspects.
Beyond the interactive experience, a television anime adaptation is currently in production and is scheduled to premiere simultaneously with the game’s release. The project also features a collaboration with the escape room specialists at SCRAP and includes the theme song 'City of Love' performed by MARIA of GARNiDELiA.
With the shift to next-generation hardware, the studio appears to be recalibrating the title's technical scope. It remains to be seen how the simultaneous launch of the anime and the game will impact the narrative rollout, given the significant development time already invested in the project.
