Daruma Matsuura's Steel of the Celestial Shadows manga has resumed publication. The series' latest chapter, number 86, appeared in this year's ninth issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior magazine, marking its return from a hiatus that began after chapter 83 in February 2025.
The manga previously went on a break in 2021 for Matsuura to conduct research. It briefly returned in June 2025 with chapters 84 and 85, with Matsuura noting on X (formerly Twitter) that this marked the beginning of a new arc, before going on hiatus once more.
Viz Media handles the English release of Steel of the Celestial Shadows, describing the story as following Konosuke, a samurai cursed to repel metal, whose life takes a turn when a mysterious woman saves him, drawing him into a hidden world of magic.
Matsuura initially launched the series in June 2020. The tenth compiled volume was published in Japan in March 2025, while Viz released the ninth English volume on February 17. Matsuura is also known for her debut work, Kasane, which concluded in August 2018 and inspired a live-action film adaptation.
