Readers of Dark Gathering will have to wait a little longer for the next chapter of the supernatural thriller. The official X account for Shueisha's Jump SQ. magazine confirmed that the series will be taking a one-month break, skipping the upcoming September issue. The production is slated to resume in the magazine's October issue, which arrives on shelves September 4.
Created by Kenichi Kondō, the series has maintained a strong following since its debut in March 2019. The manga’s dark, urban fantasy premise—which follows a reluctant ghost magnet and an occult-obsessed genius on a quest to hunt down malevolent spirits—has been a staple of Jump SQ. for over five years. The latest Japanese compiled volume, the 20th, was released just last month on July 3.
Beyond the printed page, the franchise has seen significant growth following its 25-episode anime adaptation from studio OLM. Holding a respectable 7.84 rating on MyAnimeList from over 58,000 voters, the series successfully blended horror and creature-taming elements during its Summer 2023 broadcast. With a second season already confirmed, the manga’s brief pause is a minor interruption in what remains a robust and expanding franchise.
