Daichi Banjou, the artist best known for the golf manga Dan Doh!!, recently shared an update on social media regarding his ongoing health challenges. According to a report by Anime News Network, Banjou revealed that a PET scan confirmed several cancerous recurrences following his previous surgery. The artist noted that while he is currently evaluating his treatment options, he expressed significant concerns regarding the potential for further surgical intervention and the physical toll of chemotherapy. Banjou emphasized his desire to prioritize a path that minimizes suffering, citing the intense pain he experienced during his post-operative recovery. Despite these challenges, the artist stated his intention to continue his creative work, likening his life to a manga series that he is not yet ready to see canceled. Banjou first disclosed his cancer diagnosis in May 2020, which resulted in a brief hiatus for his ongoing series Mobile Suit Gundam Aggressor. The artist returned to the project in September 2020. Throughout his career, Banjou has collaborated on various titles, including the 1995 series Dan Doh!!, which was adapted into an anime in 2004, and the Mobile Suit Gundam manga adaptations, such as Mobile Suit Gundam: Hunter of Black Clothes and Mobile Suit Gundam Aggressor.
