Daisaku Tsuru's ocean science fiction manga, Protocol Ryugu, is slated for Japanese serialization starting June 18. The series will be available on Kodansha's YanMaga Web platform.
Protocol Ryugu was initially presented to readers in an English-language special issue of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine last year, where it was eligible for a reader's poll. The manga's premise is set in a world frozen over, where a group that acquires a UFO ascends to become Earth's rulers.
Tsuru is also known for other works including nacuN, which ran in Kodansha's Afternoon magazine from 2006 to 2010. His manga Mushinuyun serialized in Shogakukan's Big Comic Superior from 2013 until its conclusion in 2018. More recently, Tsuru's manga Uichi no Shima concluded its run on Shinchosha's Kurage Bunch website in December 2023, with its fifth and final volume released that month.
