Voice actor Akira Ishida has been added to the cast of the Daemons of the Shadow Realm anime, taking on the role of Asuma Kagemori. Asuma, the second-born son of the Kagemori family, made his on-screen debut in the most recent episode, number 5, which aired on Saturday.
The adaptation of Hiromu Arakawa's manga premiered on April 4 and is currently airing its first cour. The series, produced by Bones Film, is scheduled for a 24-episode run across two consecutive cours. Viewers can catch the anime on Tokyo MX, BS11, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and HTB Hokkaido TV, among others. Crunchyroll is providing simulcast streaming and an English dub.
Ishida joins a voice cast that includes Kenshō Ono as Yuru and Yume Miyamoto as Asa. The production staff features Masahiro Andō directing, Noboru Takagi handling series scripts, and Nobuhiro Arai on character designs and chief animation direction. Kenichiro Suehiro is composing the music, with Vaundy performing the opening theme "Tobu Toki" and yama singing the ending theme "Tobō yo".
Daemons of the Shadow Realm follows Yuru, who lives a content life in a remote mountain village with his twin sister Asa, who is kept captive for a mysterious village duty. The story delves into the secrets of their seemingly idyllic home when armed intruders known as "dragons" attack the village. The manga, launched by Arakawa in December 2021, has released 12 compiled volumes to date.
