Publisher Minumsa has announced that the popular Korean novel Rapids by Dae-geon Jung is slated for a multimedia expansion. Following a significant surge in popularity among readers aged 17 to 29, the title has already surpassed 400,000 copies in cumulative sales, prompting plans for both a webtoon and a screen adaptation.

First published in 2022, the story takes place in the provincial city of Jinpyeong. The plot centers on 17-year-old classmates Dodam and Haesol, whose bond shifts from friendship to romance after a near-drowning incident. The narrative explores how the two characters navigate their shared emotional trauma while finding solace in one another.

While the expansion into webtoon and screen formats is confirmed, specific details regarding the production teams, lead artists, or target streaming platforms remain under wraps. As of now, the original novel has not received an official English-language release.
