Cygames has officially expanded its operations with the launch of CygamesEdge, a new label dedicated to supporting small and mid-sized development teams. The announcement arrived during Sony's latest State of Play livestream, which also served as the reveal for the label's first project, an action-adventure game titled Where the Seeds Fall.

Developed by ZEREO, the game is set in a world ravaged by a phenomenon known as 'Blight,' where humanity has retreated to the branches of a massive World Tree. Players take on the role of a soldier who defies orders to protect a 'Fell Child'β€”a figure feared by society as an omen of disasterβ€”and must navigate the treacherous ruins of the tree to reach the surface. The title is slated for a November 5 release across PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

While Cygames is widely recognized for massive mobile hits like Uma Musume Pretty Derby and Granblue Fantasy, the company has maintained a significant footprint in the anime industry since establishing its production division in 2015. This new label marks a shift toward a more diverse portfolio of projects, though it remains to be seen how the studio's established anime production arm might eventually intersect with the output of the CygamesEdge label.
