Ishimori Production has set a July 19 premiere date for Cyborg 009: Nemesis, a new anime project based on Shōtarō Ishinomori's iconic manga. The three-episode series will be available in Japan on Abema Premium, d Anime Store, U-NEXT, Anime Hōdai, Prime Video, and DMM TV starting at 12:00 a.m. JST.

The story centers on the sinister global organization Black Ghost, which transforms nine individuals into cyborg soldiers to instigate perpetual warfare. The cyborgs, however, rebel against their creators. Leading the cast is Yūki Kaji as Joe Shimamura/Cyborg 009. He is joined by Junko Minagawa as Cyborg 001, Mamoru Miyano as Cyborg 002, Saori Hayami as Cyborg 003, Tomokazu Sugita as Cyborg 004, Hiroki Yasumoto as Cyborg 005, Mitsuaki Kanuka as Cyborg 006, Kentarō Tone as Cyborg 007, and Yūki Hayashi as Cyborg 008.

The Nemesis group, antagonists to the cyborgs, also boasts a significant voice cast. Yūichi Nakamura plays Graviton/Nemesis 009, with Rina Hidaka as Mu/Nemesis 001, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Blizzard/Nemesis 002, Hiroshi Kamiya as Crack/Nemesis 003, Kikuko Inoue as Opro/Nemesis 004, Shion Wakayama as Blitz/Nemesis 006, Maaya Uchida as Morphone/Nemesis 007, and Ayane Sakura as Deps/Nemesis 008. Dr. Isaac Gilmore will be voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji, and Dr. Robert Golbert by Tōru Nara.

Directed by Hideki Ambo at Arect, with screenplays by Atsuhiro Tomioka and CHARATEX, the anime features character designs by sanorin. The theme song, "Taga Tame ni" (For Whom), is performed by Kyōko from the rock band Barbee Boys. This song was originally used for the 1979 Cyborg 009 television anime, with lyrics by Ishinomori himself.

Shōtarō Ishinomori's original Cyborg 009 manga debuted in July 1964. The franchise has since spawned multiple anime series, films, and OVAs, including the 2012 movie 009 Re:Cyborg and the 2016 film Cyborg 009 Call of Justice. More recent manga adaptations include Tsuguo Okazaki's Cyborg 009 Bgooparts Delete and Masaki Tsuji and Masato Hayase's Cyborg 009 Taiheiyō no Bōrei.
