The main promotional video for the upcoming Cyborg 009: Nemesis anime has arrived, offering a first listen to the ending theme song "Climal" by Sukima Switch. The trailer also previews the opening theme, "Taga Tame ni" (For Whom), performed by Kyōko of the rock band Barbee Boys. This song is a notable callback, originally used in the 1979 Cyborg 009 television series with lyrics penned by creator Shōtarō Ishinomori himself.

The new anime is set to premiere on July 19, with all three episodes launching simultaneously on Abema Premium, d Anime Store, U-NEXT, Anime Hōdai, Prime Video, DMM TV, and other Japanese streaming platforms. Prior to the release, an advance screening event is scheduled for July 18 at Shinjuku Wald 9, featuring appearances by voice actors Yūki Kaji, Yūichi Nakamura, and Saori Hayami.

Cyborg 009: Nemesis will feature Yūki Kaji as the lead Joe Shimamura/Cyborg 009. The full cast includes Junko Minagawa as Cyborg 001, Mamoru Miyano as Cyborg 002, Saori Hayami as Cyborg 003, Tomokazu Sugita as Cyborg 004, Hiroki Yasumoto as Cyborg 005, Mitsuaki Kanuka as Cyborg 006, Kentarō Tone as Cyborg 007, and Yū Hayashi as Cyborg 008. The series also introduces the antagonist Nemesis group, with Yūichi Nakamura as Graviton/Nemesis 009, Ayane Sakura as Deps/Nemesis 008, and Maaya Uchida as Morphone/Nemesis 007, among others. Dr. Isaac Gilmore will be voiced by Kazuhiro Yamaji.

The story centers on the global organization Black Ghost, which aims to perpetuate eternal war by transforming nine individuals into cyborg soldiers. The cyborgs, however, rebel against their creators. The original Cyborg 009 manga by Shōtarō Ishinomori debuted in 1964 and has spawned numerous anime series, films, and OVAs, with recent adaptations including the 2012 film 009 Re:Cyborg and the 2016 film Cyborg 009 Call of Justice. The franchise has also seen new manga continuations.
