Hiroki Yasumoto has joined the cast of the new Cyborg 009: Nemesis anime, taking on the role of Cyborg 005, also known as Geronimo Junior. The announcement was made by Ishimori Production, the studio behind the new adaptation of Shōtarō Ishinomori's iconic manga.

Leading the cyborg rebellion against the global war-mongering organization Black Ghost is Yūki Kaji as Joe Shimamura/Cyborg 009. The series will also feature Yuu Hayashi as Cyborg 008/Pyunma, Kentarō Tone as Cyborg 007/Great Britain, and Mitsuaki Kanuka as Cyborg 006/Chang Changku, rounding out a portion of the main cyborg team.

The Cyborg 009: Nemesis anime will also introduce the Nemesis group, with a full cast announced including Yūichi Nakamura as Graviton/Nemesis 009, Ayane Sakura as Deps/Nemesis 008, Maaya Uchida as Morphone/Nemesis 007, Shion Wakayama as Blitz/Nemesis 006, Tetsu Inada as Aspida/Nemesis 005, Kikuko Inoue as Opro/Nemesis 004, Hiroshi Kamiya as Crack/Nemesis 003, Yoshimasa Hosoya as Blizzard/Nemesis 002, and Rina Hidaka as Mu/Nemesis 001.

The production is helmed by director Hideki Ambo at Arect, with screenplays by Atsuhiro Tomioka and CHARATEX, and character designs by sanorin. The anime is slated to begin streaming this summer. The original Cyborg 009 manga, launched in 1964, has spawned numerous anime series, films, and OVAs, with the latest film entries being 009 Re:Cyborg (2012) and Cyborg 009 Call of Justice (2016).
