The Sgt. Frog franchise has returned to television with KERORO☆, which began streaming on Crunchyroll on October 3. The platform is offering the series with English subtitles to audiences worldwide, excluding Asia, following its broadcast debut on TV Tokyo earlier the same day.

This iteration introduces an entirely new voice cast to the series. Makoto Koichi leads the platoon as Sergeant Keroro, joined by Kōsuke Echigoya as Kululu, Rika Nagae as Tamama, Toshiki Masuda as Giroro, and Satoshi Inomata as Dororo. The production is helmed by director Akihiko Sano at BN Pictures, with chief director Nobuhiro Kondō overseeing the project. The creative team also includes series script supervisor Toshimitsu Takeuchi and character designer Hatsue Nakayama.

The arrival of this new series follows the June 26 theatrical release of the 20th-anniversary film, which featured the returning cast from the original anime run. While the 2004–2011 series remains a cornerstone of the franchise, this production establishes a distinct path forward for the amphibious invaders.

For those looking to explore the history of the platoon, Discotek Media has been releasing the original 358-episode run on Blu-ray since 2021, with the final seasons arriving earlier this year. With the franchise shifting to a new cast and production team, it remains to be seen how this modern take will balance the series' signature humor with its updated visual direction.
