Crunchyroll has launched the first 12 mini-episodes of the upcoming anime adaptation, Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You. Each episode runs for 10 minutes, and collectively they cover the first six installments of the series. This early release coincides with the anime's limited advance streaming in Japan on the ABEMA service.
The full television anime is set to broadcast in Japan starting in July, airing weekly on Thursdays at 11:56 p.m. JST across TBS and 27 other affiliated channels. Crunchyroll will carry the series for viewers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India.
The voice cast includes Takuya Satō as Sasaki and Seena Hoshiki as Yamada/Tayama, with Shinya Takahashi as Suzuki, Toa Yukinari as Gotō, Megumi Toyoguchi as Ōno, Rikuya Yasuda as Obata, and Yōko Hikasa as Maezawa. Tadato Suzuki and Aoi Mori are directing the series at Asahi Production, with Mio Inoue handling scripts and Yasuka Ōtaki on character designs.
Music for the anime is composed by Shin Kōno and Sayaka Aoki, with Kōhei Yoshida as sound director. The opening theme is performed by ZUTOMAYO, and imase provides the ending theme "Fiction." The original manga by Jinushi, which began serialization in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine, was also a finalist in the 16th Manga Taisho awards in 2023.
