Cover Corp. announced Friday a significant restructuring of its male VTuber agency, Holostars Japan, shifting away from group-wide activities to concentrate on individual talents. This strategic pivot will see the discontinuation of various group initiatives and a reduction in company-led support.
Support that will cease includes access to the company's studio, company-led events, and original music production. Third-generation talent Shien Kageyama further detailed on X that activities such as Animate Girls Festival appearances, live performances, merchandise, and voice packs will also be phased out. The company stated the decision was made after extensive business discussions, citing the need for the branch's sustainability.
While group activities are ending, Cover Corp. intends to provide tailored support for each talent and is currently in discussions regarding their future endeavors. Holostars originally launched in June 2019, with subsequent generations, including SunTempo, MaFia, and UPROAR!!, debuting in the following years. The English-speaking branch, Tempus, was introduced in July 2022.
