Publisher Comisma has entered a partnership with London-based Akili International to develop a live-action film adaptation of the manga Zukyun x Bakyun. Filmmaker Robby Monroe has been tapped to lead the project, taking on both directing and screenwriting duties for the feature.
Created by Teito Yuzuriha, the original series debuted on the GANMA! platform in October 2023 and concluded its run in September 2025. The story centers on Dan and Lyla, two elite assassins whose strictly professional dynamic is upended when Dan confesses his feelings, forcing the pair to navigate romance alongside their dangerous missions. The series concluded with five compiled volumes.
While the film is currently in development, the source material will reach a broader audience through Seven Seas Entertainment, which is scheduled to begin its English-language print release in September 2027. As the project remains in the early stages, no casting details or production timelines have been confirmed.
