Aniplex USA has unveiled a fresh English-subtitled trailer for Grotesqqque, the original omnibus anime film helmed by Atsushi Nishigori. Known for his work on The IDOLM@STER and DARLING in the FRANXX, Nishigori serves as the project's director, screenwriter, and character designer. The film presents three separate narratives, each exploring a unique worldview.
The project is a production of JOEN, a collaborative venture between Aniplex, CloverWorks, Wit Studio, and Shueisha. The musical landscape of the film includes the opening theme "Shoot Shoot Shoot" by the band METALVERSE, while Haoto provides the ending theme with lyrics penned by momosu momosu. Following its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival earlier this summer, the film is now gearing up for a domestic release in Japan on November 6.
North American audiences will get an early look at the project during a special U.S. premiere hosted by the Japan Society in New York City on October 8. The screening will feature an in-person introduction from Nishigori himself. While the film represents a new original entry for the studio, it highlights the ongoing creative partnership between CloverWorks and Wit Studio under the JOEN banner.
