CloverWorks announced Wednesday that its upcoming original anime film, Grotesqqque, will feature music from 35 distinct musical acts. The eclectic lineup includes artists such as ASCA, Reol, JUNNA, and METALVERSE, among many others.
The film itself is an omnibus project, weaving together three separate stories with unique aesthetics and themes. These segments are titled 'Aeliens,' '4649 Girl,' and 'Nocturne: Kono Grotesque na Yoru ni.' The cast for these stories includes a notable roster of voice actors such as Chika Anzai, Kana Ichinose, Miku Ichinose, Nagi Inoue, Maaya Uchida, Rumi Ōkubo, Rie Kugimiya, Nao Tomisato, Miyu Tomita, Aruno Nakanishi, Ikumi Hasegawa, Saori Hayami, Gen Hoshino, and Sara Minami.
Behind the scenes, Atsushi Nishigori, known for his work on The IDOLM@STER and DARLING in the FRANXX, is directing, writing the screenplay, and handling character designs for Grotesqqque. The film is produced by JOEN, a company formed by Aniplex, CloverWorks, Wit Studio, and Shueisha. The animated feature is slated for release in 2026.
