Konami announced Castlevania: Belmont's Curse during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, confirming an October 15 launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud, PC, and Steam. A Nintendo Switch version is slated for 2026. The game returns the franchise to its roots, set in 15th-century Paris where a new Belmont descendant must battle monstrous creatures and a mystical castle.
Evil Empire, in collaboration with advisory studio Motion Twin (both known for the roguelike Dead Cells), is developing the title. Players will wield the legendary Vampire Killer whip and master various weapons and spells to confront enemies. The developers emphasize exploration within the sinister castle, promising a challenging experience for both newcomers and long-time fans of the series.
This new entry is the first entirely new Castlevania game since 2014's Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. Konami recently released the Castlevania Dominus Collection in August 2024, featuring three Nintendo DS titles and arcade entries. The franchise also continues to expand through animation, with Castlevania: Nocturne, a spin-off of the original Netflix series, having recently premiered its second season in January 2025.
