Retailer listings have confirmed that Casshern R, the manga adaptation of the classic Tatsunoko Production series Shinzō Ningen Casshan, is set to reach its conclusion. The third compiled book volume, which serves as the series finale, is slated for release on December 18.
Written by Chabo Higurashi with illustrations by Satoshi Shiki, the manga follows the journey of Tetsuya Azuma as he assumes the mantle of Casshern to battle the robotic forces of Andro. The project has seen a unique publication history, initially launching in Monthly Champion RED in September 2023 before migrating to Akita Shoten’s Manga Cross website, where it resumed serialization in April 2025.
This adaptation joins a long lineage of Casshan media, ranging from the 1973 original to the 1993 Robot Hunter OVA and the 2008 reimagining, Casshern Sins. For artist Satoshi Shiki, this marks another project wrapping up following the conclusion of Akuma Kōjo in 2024. With the manga ending, it remains to be seen if the franchise will see further adaptations or if this iteration will stand as a self-contained retelling of the iconic 70s property.
