Sony Interactive Entertainment and The Lego Group have unveiled a new collaboration that brings a piece of gaming history to the brick-building world. The upcoming set recreates the original PlayStation console in a near 1:1 scale, featuring authentic design details like functional Power and Open buttons. The package also includes a controller that can be physically connected to the console, alongside small-scale dioramas inspired by the classic titles Gran Turismo and Ape Escape.
A promotional video released alongside the announcement highlights the design process, featuring Lego design director Frédéric Roland Andre. The trailer leans heavily into nostalgia, opening with the iconic boot-up sequence and logo of the original console rendered entirely in Lego bricks.
This release continues a trend of Lego partnering with major console manufacturers to target the adult collector market. Previous collaborations include the Nintendo Entertainment System, a buildable Game Boy, and the Sega Mega Drive, which launched earlier this year. The new PlayStation set will be available through the official PlayStation and Lego online stores starting October 1 for Lego Insiders, followed by a general retail launch on October 4.
