Publisher Bubbles Zine announced it has licensed Suehiro Maruo's horror manga collection, New National Kid (also known as Kokuritsu ShΕnen). The release is planned for winter 2026-2027, with Ryan Holmberg confirmed as the translator for the English edition.
Originally debuting in 1996 as National Kid and later reprinted in 1999 as New National Kid, the book compiles a series of horror stories. This acquisition marks another collaboration between Bubbles Zine and Maruo, who previously published the artist's Beautiful Monster and Lunatic Lover's manga.
Suehiro Maruo, known for works like Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show and The Strange Tale of Panorama Island, has remained active with recent projects. His manga Satsujin 28-gou (Murder No. 28) launched in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Beam in November 2025, and his series An Gura concluded in the same magazine in March 2023.
Maruo's extensive career, which began professionally in 1980, has garnered significant recognition, including the New Artist Prize at the 13th Annual Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes in 2009. His manga Mr. Arashi's Amazing Freak Show was adapted into an anime film in 1992 and inspired a live-action film in 2017, while The Strange Tale of Panorama Island received an Eisner Award nomination in 2014.
