Digital storefront BookWalker has expanded its library, incorporating 18 comic and webtoon titles from e-comix Media. The update brings a diverse mix of content to the platform, featuring six ongoing series—such as Living with the Dangerous Beast and The 100-Day Alpha Project—alongside 12 completed works, including The Maid and the Vampire and Bring the Love.
Beyond the content expansion, the platform is positioning itself as a potential new home for creators affected by the upcoming closure of the webtoon platform Tapas. In a recent outreach effort, BookWalker invited "Premium" and "Early Access" creators from the shuttering service to utilize its storefront for publishing and monetization, as Tapas prepares to cease operations on March 31, 2027.
This growth follows a major infrastructure overhaul for the service, which launched a rebuilt website and application suite earlier this year. The new system integrates Lightweight Content Protection (LCP) DRM, allowing users to access their digital purchases through compatible third-party reading apps. These changes coincide with the platform's 2025 transition to ownership under M12 Media LLC, a Kadokawa Group company formerly known as J-Novel Club LLC.
Why it matters: The combination of library expansion and direct outreach to Tapas creators suggests a strategic push to capture market share in the webtoon space. Whether this influx of new titles and potential creator migration will significantly shift user engagement remains to be seen.
