The second season of Blue Box (Ao no Hako) is gearing up for its October 4 premiere with a new promotional video that highlights the series' upcoming musical identity. The trailer previews the opening theme, "Anata no Hana no Iro" by singer-songwriter aiko, alongside the ending track "blue in" performed by the duo elsewhere kikou.
Alongside the music reveal, the production team has announced a significant shift in creative leadership. Daisuke Sakō, known for Lupin Zero, takes over as director, while the animation production moves to studio Electric Circus. The shift extends to the art department, with Anri Ishii stepping in as art director, and Yumika Okazaki taking over as editor. These changes arrive as the series adapts the final arcs of Kōji Miura’s hit manga, which concluded its run in July.
New cast member Yoshino Aoyama joins the ensemble as Yumeka Kido, appearing alongside returning leads Shōya Chiba and Reina Ueda. The series, which balances high-stakes badminton with complex romantic dynamics, remains a staple of the Shonen Jump catalog with over 6.2 million copies in circulation.
With the final volume of the source material scheduled for release in December, this second season is poised to be the definitive conclusion for the screen adaptation. Following the success of the first season, which aired over two consecutive cours between 2024 and 2025, the new episodes will arrive on TBS and Netflix this fall.
