Development on Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement has been extended, with ArtPlay and 505 Games announcing a new release window of 2027. Koji Igarashi, co-founder of ArtPlay, shared the update via a video message, confirming that the team is currently navigating the final stages of production to ensure the title meets their quality standards.
This delay follows the tragic passing of creative director Shutaro Iida earlier this year. Following Iida's death in February, Igarashi pledged that the development team would remain committed to honoring Iida’s original vision for the project. To coincide with the announcement, the studio released a series of new screenshots offering a deeper look at the game's atmosphere and character designs.
Serving as a prequel to the critically acclaimed Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, the story centers on Leo and the Black Wolves as they assault the Ethereal Castle. Players will face off against the Demon Lord Elias in a narrative that expands the franchise's lore well before the events of previous entries. The game remains slated for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
