The second promotional video for the upcoming Black Torch television anime has arrived, offering a first listen to the series' opening and ending theme songs. SiM is set to perform the opening track "Freeze Me Up," while I Don't Like Mondays. will handle the ending theme, "Groooovy." The new trailer provides fans with a preview of both songs.
Alongside the music reveal, the anime's staff also unveiled a new key visual. The series is slated for a July 4, 2026 premiere, with Crunchyroll handling streaming duties across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS. The anime's world premiere will take place at Anime Expo 2026.
The Black Torch anime stars Ryōta Suzuki as Jiro Azuma and Yōji Ueda as Rago, with Sayaka Senbongi voicing Ichika Kishimojin and Junya Enoki as Reiji Kirihara. Reina Ueda will voice Hana Usami, Junichi Suwabe is Ryosuke Shiba, and Nobuhiko Okamoto plays Koga. Additional cast includes Toshiyuki Morikawa as Amagi, Shinpachi Tsuji as Toshimasa Azama, Yūko Kaida as Toko Kusumi, and Hōchū Ōtsuka as Banjuro Tokieda.
Directed by Kei Umabiki at 100Studio, the anime features character designs by Gō Suzuki and series scripts supervised and written by Gigaemon Ichikawa. Yutaka Yamada is composing the music. The manga, launched by Tsuyoshi Takaki in Shueisha's Jump Square in December 2016, follows Jiro Azuma, a descendant of shinobi with the ability to communicate with animals, who is drawn into a hidden war against powerful spirits after a mysterious cat fuses with him.
