The upcoming television anime adaptation of Tsuyoshi Takaki's Black Torch manga has expanded its voice cast with three new additions. Shinpachi Tsuji will voice Toshimasa Azuma, Yūko Kaida takes on the role of Toko Kusumi, and Hōchū Ōtsuka is set to portray Banjuro Tokieda.
More production staff have also been confirmed for the series. The team includes Sub-Character Designers Yumi Nakamura, Masahiko Suzuki, and Mariko Kinoshita, with Yutaka Yamada composing the music. Kei Umabiki is directing the anime at 100Studio, Gō Suzuki is handling character designs, and Gigaemon Ichikawa is supervising the scripts.
The Black Torch anime is set to debut on July 4, with Crunchyroll confirmed to stream the series across North America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and other regions. The story follows Jiro Azuma, a descendant of shinobi with the ability to communicate with animals. His life takes a drastic turn when a mysterious stray cat fuses with him, bestowing him with great power and drawing him into a hidden war against dangerous spirits.
Original cast members previously announced include Ryōta Suzuki as Jiro Azuma, Yōji Ueda as Rago, Sayaka Senbongi as Ichika Kishimojin, Junya Enoki as Reiji Kirihara, Reina Ueda as Hana Usami, Junichi Suwabe as Ryosuke Shiba, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Koga, and Toshiyuki Morikawa as Amagi.
