The long-awaited second season of Black Clover has officially locked in its return, with a premiere scheduled for October 3. Following the conclusion of the original 170-episode run in March 2021, the series will resume its broadcast on TV Tokyo and its affiliates. Fans looking for an early look can catch a special theatrical preview through the Crunchyroll Anime Nights program in the U.S. on September 21, ahead of the show's regular streaming rollout.
Production duties remain in experienced hands, as Studio Pierrot returns to animate the new episodes. Ayataka Tanemura, who previously directed the final arc of the first series and the 2023 film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King, is confirmed to return as director. The musical lineup for the season features WANIMA performing the opening theme, "Kienai Riyū," while the ending theme, "Yellow Brick Road," will be provided by ONE OR EIGHT.
This season follows a significant gap in the television broadcast, though the franchise remained active with the 2023 Netflix film. While the original series maintained a consistent presence on platforms like Crunchyroll and Funimation—and a long-running stint on Toonami—the shift to a new season marks the first major episodic expansion since the manga moved to the quarterly Jump Giga magazine. With the director of the film now leading the series, it remains to be seen how the pacing will adapt to the current manga release schedule.
