The next chapter of Black Clover is set to arrive this October, with TV Tokyo announcing the premiere window for the anime's second season. Leading the production is Ayataka Tanemura, who previously directed key episodes of the first season (episodes 153-170) and helmed the recent film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. Studio Pierrot, the animation house behind the original series, will return to animate the new season.
Tanemura's involvement signals a continuation of the established visual style and action sequences that have defined the popular fantasy series. The anime, which last aired in March 2021 with its 170th episode, will be available to stream on Crunchyroll. Further details regarding the exact premiere date are expected soon.
Fans will have an early opportunity to hear more about the upcoming season. Director Tanemura and Gakuto Kajiwara, the voice of protagonist Asta, are scheduled to appear at a panel during Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 4th. The convention runs from July 2nd to 5th.
Black Clover originally premiered in October 2017 and concluded its initial broadcast run in March 2021. The film Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King debuted globally on Netflix in June 2023. The manga by Yūki Tabata, which launched in 2015, has since moved to quarterly publication in Jump Giga magazine.
