Creators Atari Katagiri and Makoto Kisaragi have teamed up for a new romantic drama series, Watashi-tachi no Koto wa Nanto Yobeba (What Should We Call Our Relationship?), which launched this week on the Manga UP! digital service. Katagiri is handling both the illustration and the original story, while Kisaragi oversees the composition.
The narrative centers on Mineko and Sunao, a high school couple who find their relationship abruptly transformed when their parents marry, forcing them to adopt the roles of siblings. While the pair initially agrees to suppress their romantic feelings, the story picks up years later following a tragic accident that claims both parents' lives. Now living together as independent adults, the two must navigate their shared history and the lingering, hidden memories of their past romance.
Both creators bring significant experience to this collaboration. Katagiri is well-known for the manga adaptation of the light novel series Reincarnated as a 15-Year-Old Queen, which concluded in 2023. Meanwhile, Kisaragi is recognized for their work on the adaptation of The Strongest Tank's Labyrinth Raids, a series that recently received a television anime adaptation that aired on Crunchyroll in 2024.
