Kadokawa revealed on Wednesday that the Aria the Scarlet Ammo franchise will receive a new short anime production. This project is being created to celebrate the series' 15th anniversary, with further details to be shared at a later time.

The original Aria the Scarlet Ammo light novels, written by Chūgaku Akamatsu, first received an anime adaptation that aired in 2011. Funimation handled streaming and home video releases for the series in North America.

The franchise also includes the Aria the Scarlet Ammo AA spinoff, which inspired a 12-episode TV anime that premiered in October 2015. Funimation also streamed and released this adaptation.

Currently, the Aria the Scarlet Ammo novels have reached their 45th volume, with the manga adaptation by Yoshino Koyoka ongoing in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Alive magazine. The series boasts over 9 million copies in circulation worldwide.
