Arc System Works has confirmed that its new simulation title, Donutal, will arrive on PC via Steam on September 3. Players based in Japan should note the release date is set for September 4 in that region. To mark the announcement, the studio released two new character overview trailers, providing a closer look at the game's mechanics and aesthetic.
In Donutal, players assume the role of a 'Chief Extraterrestrial Counselor' in the year 2206. The gameplay loop centers on screening alien applicants, requiring players to decide who is permitted to enter Earth based on their potential to either advance or threaten the planet's future. The title draws clear inspiration from the immigration simulation mechanics popularized by titles like Papers, Please.
Early adopters have an incentive to pick up the game shortly after launch. Purchases made between September 3 and November 30 will include access to the game's original soundtrack, which features 13 tracks. While the game's Steam page previously featured a disclaimer regarding the use of AI-generated assets for in-game news articles, that notice has since been removed from the listing.
