The original anime Apocalypse Hotel has earned the prestigious Best Media award at the 57th Seiun Awards, as announced by the Japan Science Fiction Convention. The series, a collaboration between CyberAgent and its subsidiary Cygames Pictures, beat out other contenders in its category.
Further recognition came to the franchise as the spinoff manga, Apocalypse Hotel Pusupusu, penned by Izumi Takemoto, secured the Best Comic Award. Adding to the wins, veteran mechanical designer Ikuto Yamashita, known for his work on franchises like Neon Genesis Evangelion and Mobile Suit Gundam, was honored with the Best Artist Award.
Apocalypse Hotel premiered in April 2025, with Crunchyroll handling its international streaming. The anime is set in a post-collapse Tokyo where nature has reclaimed the land, focusing on Yachiyo, a hotel management robot tasked with maintaining a Ginza hotel in anticipation of guests' return. The series was directed by Kana Shundo with scripts by Shigeru Murakoshi and music by Yoshiaki Fujisawa.
The 57th Seiun Awards honor works released in 2025, with winners chosen by attendees of the Japan Science Fiction Convention. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place during the 64th Nihon SF Taikai in Oita Prefecture from July 11-12.
