Aoashi Season 2 has announced its theme song artists and a new director ahead of its October 4 premiere on NHK Educational. Rock band 10-FEET will perform the opening theme for the first half of the season, while singer-songwriter Ai Higuchi is set to perform the ending theme. The exact titles for these songs have not yet been revealed.
Kazuki Yokoyama steps in as director for the second season, taking over from Akira Satō. Asami Taguchi and Junko Yamanaka join Manabu Nakatake as character designers, with TMS Entertainment handling animation production, a shift from Production I.G. The core staff, including script supervisor Masahiro Yokotani and composer Masaru Yokoyama, are returning to their roles.
Fans can get an early look at the upcoming season at Anime Expo on July 3, where a panel will offer behind-the-scenes insights and preview footage. The first season of the soccer-focused anime, based on Yūgo Kobayashi's manga, premiered in April 2022 and was streamed by Crunchyroll.
The Aoashi manga, which has over 15 million copies in circulation and won Best General Manga at the 65th Shogakukan Manga Awards, follows Ashito Aoi, a talented middle school soccer player scouted for a Tokyo youth team. Titan Manga is releasing the series in English.
