Creator Alpa has returned to the Shonen Jump+ platform with a brand-new series titled Slap Shot Girls. The manga, which centers on the world of women's ice hockey, began its serialization this Tuesday. International readers can access the series in English through the MANGA Plus digital service, which synchronized its release with the Japanese debut.

The narrative introduces readers to Kurumi Kobashiri, a teenager whose life takes a sharp turn after she relocates to Hokkaido following middle school. After a painful breakup with her boyfriend, Kurumi finds herself aimlessly wandering into a local skating rink. There, she encounters the fast-paced world of hockey, setting the stage for her new athletic journey.

This project marks Alpa's first major work since the conclusion of Ankoku Delta, which wrapped up its run in January 2025. That previous series, also hosted on Shonen Jump+, spanned five compiled volumes. With this new pivot to the sports genre, it remains to be seen how Alpa will balance the character-driven drama of Kurumi's transition to Hokkaido with the technical demands of depicting hockey on the page.
