Aniplex has stepped in to publish Fate/Extra Record, the remake of the 2010 PSP title. The announcement, which includes the launch of a new official website and social media presence, follows a period of uncertainty for the project after Bandai Namco Entertainment withdrew from its previous publishing agreement. Alongside the publisher change, the game has been confirmed for a release on the Nintendo Switch 2, joining the previously announced platforms of PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

This transition coincides with a leadership change at Type-Moon studio BB. Kazuya Nino, who served as the game’s director and planner, announced his departure from the studio citing personal health reasons. Nino, a veteran producer who also contributed to the original Fate/Extra and the Etrian Odyssey series, confirmed he is stepping away from game development entirely for the time being.

While the project remains indefinitely delayed, Type-Moon has emphasized that development is continuing under a restructured team. Character designer Arco Wada is confirmed to remain with the project, maintaining a key creative link to the original vision. The remake was first announced in 2020 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the "Extraverse" continuity, which has since expanded through various spin-offs including the Fate/EXTELLA series and the anime adaptation Fate/Extra Last Encore.

With the studio restructuring and the loss of a lead director, the primary question for followers of the series remains the current state of the game's production timeline. Given that the project has shifted from a planned 2025 release to an indefinite window, how do you think the change in publishing and leadership will impact the final scope of the remake?
